Almighty God! Let the Ashes of the Children incinerated in Auschwitz, rivers of blood spilled in Babbi Yar or Majdanek, be a warning to mankind that violence is destructive, hatred is contagious, while man has an unlimited capacity for cruelty. Antisemitism- Harbinger of Violent Conflicts. My reasoning is as follows: 1. Human societies do not develop in a linear fashion; periods of development and economic expansion are followed by accumulation of conflicts, which unresolved, lead to wars and revolutions. Those quantum changes are due to the uneven development of science, technology and philosophy in many segments of the population and in different countries. 2. Mature, adaptable and open societies solve their accumulated conflicts through economic or political changes, without the use of imaginary enemies or scapegoats. For example America solved conflicts of the civil right movement, campuses upheavals of the sixties, the Japan economic competition, the computer revolution of the seventies through adaptation, in a really "revolutionary way". Due to the adaptation the society emerged stronger and stronger after each conflict. 3. Autocratic or intolerant societies are unable to adapt to the changing conditions, are finding convenient scapegoats in the Jews. The unresolved conflicts develop to the point of no return and lead to violence. Thus the resurgence of anti-Semitism the harbinger of conflicts, wars and revolutions. It happened many times in history: The Weimer Republic faced many economic hardships, while the German electorate was divided and supported three major parties: the Communists, the Socialists and the Nationalists. The Reichstag was deadlocked and Hindenberg ruled by decrees. Hitler using Antisemitism broke the deadlock with semi-legitimate means and the results are well known. The resurgence of Antisemitism was a harbinger of future violence. Russia at the turn of 20 Century was in dire need of agrarian reforms; the peasants lived in virtual servitude and in abhorring conditions. Instead of reforms the Tsar fanned Antisemitism leading to vicious pogroms. Many Jews left Russia and the unresolved hidden conflicts culminated in the Bolshevik Revolution. Here too the resurgence of Antisemitism was the harbinger of violent resolutions of conflicts. The Muslim world today. The Muslim world today is facing stagnation, lack of education and conflicts due to the religious intolerance. The explosive growth of the population strains the limited resources, leading to militant hatred of all non-Muslim societies, and terror. The Muslim societies with no Jewish population are resurrecting Global Antisemitism, and this is a harbinger of future violence. Conclusions. In the age of Globalization, the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction, general decline of morality and ethics, when mankind needs so much tolerance, acceptance and goodwill Global Antisemitism is used by regressive forces as a catalyzor for evil violence. It is sad that world and especially Europe are blind to the dangers that lie ahead. The conflicts have to be solved by the belligerent societies; appeasement will not alleviate the dangers. |
