Almighty God! Let the Ashes

hatred is contagious, while man has an unlimited capacity for cruelty.
FIGHTING TERRORISM THROUGH MORAL RENEWAL
By Alexander Kimel
.
Presently the eyes of the world are focused on the UN-Saddam drama. Unfortunately, the downfall of Saddam is not going to solve the problem of the international terrorism. The terrorism is facilitated mainly by the creation in Islam an enormous, underground reservoir of poisonous hatred toward the West and especially toward the US.
The spreading of Wahhabi, the crystallized religion of intolerance, facilitated the channeling of daily frustrations of living in overcrowded, impoverished societies into hatred of non-believers. This was achieved by redefining the meaning of the Jihad, the holy war. Originally Jihad meant a self controlling fight with the impulses of evil and self-indulgence. Wahhabism redefined Jihad as an armed struggle with all non-believers.
Four thousand years ago, Moses with the Ten Commandments laid down the foundation of civilized life: Thou shall not kill, steal, bear false witness, desire your neighbor's property, his wife, servants, etc. On this foundation, all Abahamic faiths (Judaism, Christianity and Islam) built the superstructures of their societies.
Unfortunately, our civilization is tainted with the "Original Sin" of intolerance. We call the Creator different names thus rejecting monotheism based on the notion of a universal Creator loving all his children. We narrowly defined the path of individual salvation accepting the notion of tribal Gods, jealously guarding their flocks.
CONCLUSIONS
I believe that only through re-dedication of all Abrahamic faiths to their basic source of inspiration, the Ten Commandments, can we create a climate of tolerance that is necessary for undermining the foundations of terrorism. The swamps of hatred have to be drained before terrorism will succumb to sanity.
